Dirk Kuyt admits that he is disappointed not to be named to the starting lineup against Denmark at Euro 2012.

Netherlands striker Dirk Kuyt has admitted that he is disappointed to not be named in the starting lineup against Denmark at Euro 2012.

The Fenerbahce forward, who was once a regular under Dutch boss Bert van Marwijk, finds himself down the pecking order ahead of the tournament in Poland and Ukraine. However, he insists that he will accept whatever role he is given.

"Of course I am disappointed," he told De Telegraaf.

"Even so, I accept the role of substitute. Reserves such as me, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar or Rafael van der Vaart, we must put pride aside.

"The important thing is the team. Even the reserves have to help the team win the tournament."

The Dutch open Euro 2012 against the Danes on June 9.
