Holland's John Heitinga has told his teammates not to underestimate Denmark ahead of Saturday's Euro 2012 clash between the two sides.
Bert van Marwijk's men are clear favourites to pick up three points from the game, but the Everton defender warned the squad against complacency.
"Denmark could surprise us," the 28-year-old told NUSport. "Although their expectations are a lot lower in this difficult group.
"Nobody really expects them to proceed. We owe it to our fans to beat Denmark."
Heitinga predicted that the Danes will start with Arsenal's Nicklas Bendtner up front, and admitted that he is relishing facing the striker.
"They are likely to play with Bendtner in the first team," he added. "I've played against him many times and it has always gone well.
"I have won all the battles and have never conceded against him. The statistics look good, but this is a totally different game."
Heitinga found himself under fire from national team coach Marwijk following the Netherlands' 2-1 friendly defeat to Bulgaria.
A mistimed pass by the defender during stoppage time cost his side a draw in the warm-up game.
