John Carver has insisted that his Newcastle United side will not "quit" following their seventh loss in a row in the Premier League.
The Magpies' 3-2 defeat to Swansea City leaves them just five points clear of the relegation zone, having played a game more than several of the teams below them in the table.
The manager told reporters: "It was a huge disappointment, a huge disappointment, but we are not ready to quit, not ready to pack it in, not ready to throw in the towel. That is very important, and that applies to me and the rest of my staff.
"I have got to try and make those guys feel 10ft tall, as much as I can. Sometimes it is quite difficult, but it is my job and my responsibility to try and pick them up and do that."
Newcastle face Leicester City, who have won their last four games, in their next match.
