Newcastle United have begun contract discussions with Sean Longstaff, according to a report.
The 24-year-old has made 18 appearances in the Premier League this season for the club, contributing one goal during that period, while he also featured once in the EFL Cup.
Longstaff has been with the Magpies since the youth-team stage, developing through the system while also getting some loan opportunities with Blackpool and Kilmarnock.
According to The Times, Newcastle have begun 'preliminary' discussions over a new contract for the midfielder, whose current deal wraps up at the end of this season.
Eddie Howe has previously made it clear that he would like to retain the Englishman, but it remains to be seen whether or not the two parties can come to terms on something.
Newcastle United will be back in action on Thursday against Everton.
