John Carver: 'We need Newcastle United fans to help us'

John Carver urges the Newcastle United fans to get behind the team for their crucial match against West Ham United on the final day of the season.

Newcastle United head coach John Carver has said that the fans must get behind the team next weekend for their crucial Premier League clash against West Ham United at St James' Park.

The Magpies are two points clear of the relegation zone after losing 2-1 to Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Saturday, which was Newcastle's eighth defeat in nine games.

Carver wants the fans to help the team get over the line by producing the same level of support that they did in the draw with West Bromwich Albion last week.

"It was in our hands and we could have put it to bed, we haven't, so now it is definitely the biggest game and the biggest we have had for a long, long time," The Mag quotes Carver as saying.

"What I will say is, I want the same atmosphere as we had against West Brom a fortnight ago because it could be the fans who actually get us across the line and keep our Premier League status."

Newcastle's inferior goal difference means that they will be relegated to the Championship if they fail to win and Hull City beat Manchester United on the final day of the campaign.
