Newcastle United are reportedly in discussions over a potential transfer for Southampton full-back Tino Livramento.

Newcastle United are reportedly in advanced discussions to sign Tino Livramento from Southampton.

The Magpies are set to begin their summer business with the statement signing of Sandro Tonali from Italian giants AC Milan.

Newcastle are expected to splash out €70m (£60.2m) on the Italy international, but they are also on the lookout for cut-price deals due to concerns over Financial Fair Play regulations.

As a result, they have been scouring the three recently-relegated clubs in the hope of finding a bargain, and their search has seemingly led them to Livramento.

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle are in advanced talks with Southampton over a potential deal for the 20-year-old.

The report claims that negotiations are ongoing, with the two clubs still some way off from agreeing on a valuation.

Southampton are hoping to receive a fee in the region of £30m, while Newcastle are only looking to pay half that amount.

The Magpies have also put forward one proposal that included cash plus Ryan Fraser, who will be allowed to depart this summer after falling out of favour under Eddie Howe.

Livramento, who joined Southampton from Chelsea in the summer of 2021, has made 34 appearances for the Saints, contributing one goal and two assists.

The right-back was sidelined for over a year after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in April 2022, before he made his return in the final two games of the 2022-23 campaign.

Livramento is not the only Southampton player to be linked with a summer exit following the club's relegation to the Championship.

Newcastle are one of a number of Premier League clubs that have shown an interest in Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse.

Kyle Walker-Peters, Armel Bella-Kotchap and Romeo Lavia are also among those that could depart the South-coast side this summer.
