Newcastle United have sent young right-back Jamie Sterry out on loan to League Two strugglers Crewe Alexandra in a deal running until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old has made just one senior appearance for the Magpies this term - a 3-2 EFL Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest in August - and had been deemed surplus to requirements by Rafael Benitez this month.

Sterry previously spent four months on loan in the third tier with Coventry City, where he made 20 appearances and scored one goal.
The youngster joins a Crewe side that are 21st in the League Two table and just three points above the dropzone.
Sterry is in line to make his debut this weekend when Crewe visit high-flying Notts County.
