Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has said that his side needs a couple of strikers for next season.
The Magpies have released Shola Ameobi, and on loan duo Loic Remy and Luuk de Jong, have returned to their parent clubs, Queens Park Rangers and Borussia Monchengladbach respectively.
The North-East club has already signed midfielder Jack Colback and forward Ayoze Perez, but the 52-year-old is keen to add more firepower to his side.
"We got two in quickly, which was good," Pardew told the Shields Gazette. "And we now need to get a couple of strikers in.
"It's a good start, but we've got to cover some areas, particularly scoring goals.
"A lot of clubs and agents are waiting to see how players fare in the World Cup."
Newcastle kick off their campaign with a home game against defending Premier League champions Manchester City.
