Danny Simpson insists that his contract demands are "not outrageous" following suggestions that the full-back is pushing for a big-money deal.

Newcastle United full-back Danny Simpson has hit back at suggestions that he is being greedy by claiming that his contract demands are not "outrageous".

The 25-year-old's future has been in limbo in recent months, with reports suggesting that he could be set for a move away from the Sports Direct Arena.

Despite rumours over his position with the Magpies, Simpson has insisted that he wants to stay in the North East as long as the contract offer is right.

"I'm not a greedy player and I just want to be on par with the other players around me," said Simpson. "In football terms, what I'm asking for is by no means outrageous."

The former Manchester United defender has been at Newcastle since 2010.
