David Gill 'to be given FIFA role by new president Gianni Infantino'

Former Manchester United chief executive David Gill will reportedly be handed a new financial role at FIFA by new president Gianni Infantino.

Former Manchester United chief executive David Gill is reportedly expected to be handed a new role at FIFA by recently-elected president Gianni Infantino.

Gill, who is a vice-president of football's world governing body, is likely to be called upon to help solve FIFA's financial troubles.

According to The Guardian, a place on FIFA's finance committee is likely to go to Gill and the 58-year-old could even be made chairman.

The qualified accountant, who left his role at Old Trafford when former manager Sir Alex Ferguson departed in 2013, is already a member of UEFA's finance committee.

It has been reported that FIFA, whose new president Infantino was elected last Friday, are facing a £72m loss this year.
