Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera backs Romelu Lukaku to impress in the coming weeks.

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has backed Romelu Lukaku to impress in the coming weeks, with the Belgian breaking his long goal drought against Southampton.

Lukaku had gone 12 club matches without finding the back of the net ahead of the clash with Southampton, but scored United's first in the 2-2 draw at St Mary's.

Herrera has said that the Belgian "played a fantastic 60 minutes", and has now tipped the 25-year-old to hit the goal in the festive period.

"When the ball was fed to him [Lukaku], he held it for the team. He was not selfish at all, he was playing for us without shining, but he was good for the team and he has to build on that," Lukaku told reporters.

"He played a fantastic 60 minutes and he scored which is very important for the strikers. I think we are going to see the best Lukaku in the next games."

United are next in Premier League action against Arsenal on Wednesday night.
