Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill reveals that he wants to extend his stay in charge of the national side.

Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill has revealed that he wants to continue his spell in charge of the national team.

The 43-year-old, who has yet to win a match since his appointment in December 2011, sees his current contract with the Irish Football Association expire at the end of the year.

"If the association felt they wanted me to continue to the [2016 European Championships] I would do it, simple as that," O'Neill is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"It takes you six months to learn the nature of the job and what's expected. The relationship with myself and the players is strong and can only continue to develop. Certainly, I would welcome that opportunity."

Fourth-placed Ireland continue their World Cup qualifying campaign on Friday when they entertain Group F leaders Russia.
