David McNally backs Neil Adams to succeed with Norwich City

Norwich chief executive David McNally backs new manager Neil Adams to keep the club in the top flight with five games remaining of the season.

Norwich City chief executive David McNally has backed new manager Neil Adams to keep the club in the Premier League this season.

Adams was announced as the new Norwich boss earlier this evening as the club parted company with Chris Hughton following yesterday's 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion at Carrow Road.

The Canaries now sit just one place above the bottom three with five games remaining, but McNally believes that Adams will be able to stave off the threat of relegation if he gets the backing of the fans.

"Neil is a progressive and successful coach who has served this club as a player and a member of our coaching staff in exemplary fashion over two decades," McNally told the club's official website.

"With our fantastic fans getting behind Neil and the team in the games ahead we will greatly improve our chances of a successful end to the current campaign."

Adams, who was previously the club's Under-18s coach, made 206 appearances for Norwich between 1993 and 1999.
