Dougie Freedman hails "fantastic" transfer window

Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman says that he is delighted with the club's business in this summer's transfer window.

Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman has called the club's business in this summer's transfer window "fantastic" after four players arrived on deadline day.

Forest signed Chris O'Grady, Nelson Oliveira, Ryan Mendes and Jonny Williams in the hours before the window shut to add to the arrivals of Matt Mills, Jamie Ward, Daniel Pinillos and Kyle Ebecilio earlier in the summer.

Freedman admitted that he is thrilled with the additions that he has been able to make to his squad, which he acknowledges was lacking depth before deadline day.

He told the club website: "I was looking at a profile of players. I think we have been a little bit one-dimensional with a lack of depth in the squad.

"Chris O'Grady is the type of player who can play with his back to goal. Oliveira is a fantastic talent and if he settles in we have found ourselves a fantastic player - only time will tell there.

"Jonny's fitness levels are not where they should be. He has not played a lot of games but I felt that if we acquired him now and got him up to speed in two to three weeks, we have got a great player.

"Ryan Mendes is a left winger-cum-striker, an international player. I have been tracking him for many years. I tried to sign him for Crystal Palace from Le Havre a few years ago. All in all I think it's a fantastic window for us."

Freedman also confirmed that all four new signings will make the trip to Queens Park Rangers for this weekend's Championship clash.
