Neil Warnock reveals reason behind Nottingham Forest snub

Neil Warnock reveals that he turned down the chance to become Nottingham Forest boss because he would not be able to manage the team as he wished.

Neil Warnock has revealed that he rejected the opportunity to become manager of Nottingham Forest because he felt that he would not able to manage the team as he wanted to.

The former Queens Park Rangers was widely expected to succeed Billy Davies after he was sacked on Monday.

However, Warnock has decided that the job was not right for him following talks with the Championship club.

"The talks started well but, in my eyes, it deteriorated. In the end, I didn't think I was the right one," he told talkSPORT.

"I wanted to keep my own direction. If I can't go into something 100% as I like to manage I cannot commit to it.

"There was nobody you could talk to English-wise who knew about football, that you could have a conversation about getting things done. It is ok having good intentions but you have to know the rules and regulations and it seemed very difficult to get anything done."

Former Watford boss Gianfranco Zola has emerged as the favourite to take over at the City Ground.
