Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini insists that the situation at the club is serious, but refused to lay the blame with manager Alberto Malesani.

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has insisted that "the situation is serious" at his club.

The Rosanero are currently sitting at the bottom of Serie A after Saturday's goalless draw against Genoa.

Zamparini has confirmed that he is "deciding what is best for the team", but refused to blame coach Alberto Malesani.

"I am thinking about other things right now, but the situation is serious," Zamparini told Palermonews.it.

"We are deciding what is best for the team along with the director of sport. The Coach cannot be blamed, as three rounds is not much to evaluate his work.

"The fault lies with us, not the tactician. We are trying to emerge from a difficult situation and this is not the time to be apportioning blame."

Malesani is Palermo's third manager so far this season.
