Giorgos Karagounis refuses to discuss red card decision

Giorgos Karagounis says that coming back from 10 men and a goal down to draw with Poland is no mean feat.

Greece captain Giorgos Karagounis has refused to discuss the red card shown to Sokratis Papastathopoulos's during their 1-1 draw with Poland.

The centre-back was given his marching orders after being on the receiving end of two debatable yellow cards, while Greece struggled during the first half in Warsaw.

Karagounis, who missed a penalty that might have won the game, said that he would rather focus on the efforts of his teammates in overturning the one-goal deficit.

"It's not a small thing to come here, to Poland, with a good home crowd and to get this result after losing a man," said the 35-year-old. "At half time we knew we had to recover and we did. We lost the penalty but even then we could have got another goal.

"The goal gave us a lot of confidence and I think what happened tonight will help us in the next matches. I'm not going to talk about what the referee did, because we have to play our game regardless of what the referee does."

Both teams ended the match with 10 men following Wojciech Szczesny's second-half red card.
