England legend Glenn Hoddle: David Luiz defended like an "eight-year-old"

Glenn Hoddle says that David Luiz defended like an "eight-year-old who hasn't been coached" in PSG's Champions League defeat to Barcelona.

Glenn Hoddle has blasted Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz following their 3-1 defeat to Barcelona, likening him to an "eight-year-old who hasn't been coached".

The Brazilian was nutmegged by Luis Suarez in the build-up to both of the Uruguayan's goals as the Catalans placed one foot in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Luiz, 27, had been nursing a hamstring injury in the days leading up to tonight's clash at Parc des Princes, but Hoddle says that is no excuse for his 'childish' defending.

"Even if you're not 100% fit you can't show that lack of intent," the former Tottenham Hotspur and England ace told Sky Sports News.

"He's the last man on the pitch when Suarez picks the ball up and starts running at him. He realises he's the last man and the very last thing [you should do] when you're last man is jump in. You bide team for your team to get around you.

"He does what an eight-year-old who hasn't been coached does. He tries to win it by putting both of his feet together but when he does that he can't move anywhere. Suarez nutmegs him again."

Neymar opened the scoring with a first-half goal before Suarez's brace gave the Catalans a healthy 3-0 cushion by the 79th minute.

However, Jeremy Mathieu netted an 82nd-minute own goal to give PSG the slimmest of lifelines ahead of next Tuesday's second leg at Camp Nou.
