Former Barcelona captain Xavi has revealed that he wants to manage the Qatar national team.

The 37-year-old has not yet retired from professional football as he continues to turn out for Al Sadd.

However, Xavi has confirmed that he is already preparing for the future, with the former Spain international having ambitions of becoming the head coach of Qatar.

"I'm here to help players improve so they are able to compete with the rest of the world," Marca quotes Xavi as saying.

"My aim is to be the coach, it would good for me and I need some experience for my future career. I have the advantage of knowing the Qatari players and the football environment here."

Xavi won eight La Liga titles, three Copas del Rey and four Champions Leagues with Barcelona before leaving Camp Nou to join Al Sadd in the summer of 2015.
