Harry Redknapp: 'Adel Taarabt still has Queens Park Rangers future'

Harry Redknapp claims that Adel Taarabt still has a future at Queens Park Rangers, as long as he can make a return to fitness following a spell on the sidelines.

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has insisted that he holds no grudges against Adel Taarabt and has called on the playmaker to prove his fitness in order to return to the first-team squad.

The 25-year-old has made just two Premier League appearances for the Hoops since returning from a six-month loan spell at AC Milan last season.

Redknapp hit out at Taarabt in October, claiming that the Moroccan was "three stone overweight", although he has now opened the door for him to return to the fold.

"It's up to Adel if he gets back into the team," he is quoted as saying by ESPN. "Only he can get himself fit and ready to play. You can take a horse to water - but how far is the water?

"I just want Adel to get fit and start playing football. We need him fit and playing. If he's fit he's back in he squad, I've told him that.

"I'll only be too pleased to have him involved. I don't hold grudges against him, I just want him fit. He's not training at the moment. He's back with the fitness coach. He's had a bit of a groin strain that he hasn't been able to shake off."

Taarabt made the move to Loftus Road from Tottenham Hotspur in 2010 following a successful loan spell at the club.
