Nigel Adkins says that he has had a word with Royston Drenthe after the Dutch winger was yellow-carded for a dive during Reading's 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers.

Reading manager Nigel Adkins has said that he is pleased with a point from today's trip to the Reebok Stadium.

The Royals fell behind to a Darren Pratley effort in the 17th minute, but Nick Blackman's penalty six minutes after the break was enough to see them earn a draw.

"I thought we started brightly and in the second half we were the better team and really looking to win it," PA quotes Adkins as saying. "But again the big talking points were the decisions the referee's had to make and I'll have to look at that in the video.

"It was a challenging fixture and we've got to support the referee. It was a fast and furious game and it's not easy for them. Overall we're coming from a place where there won't be many teams taking points so you've got to be happy with a point."

Dutch winger Royston Drenthe was booked for diving during the match and Adkins has backed the referee's decision, revealing that he has spoken to the former Real Madrid player.

"I've spoken with Royston and there was contact but he could have carried on so he should have stayed on his feet," he added.

"We've had a word with him because we don't want to be doing that at Reading Football Club.

"But I thought Royston was a massive threat and he'll only get fitter and better throughout this season."

Reading welcome Watford to the Madejski Stadium next Saturday.
