Carlo Ancelotti: 'Marcelo fit for Schalke 04 clash'

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti declares Brazilian left-back Marcelo fit for Wednesday's Champions League last-16 first leg against Schalke 04.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that Marcelo will be fit for Wednesday's Champions League last-16 first leg against Schalke 04.

The Brazilian defender was forced to depart in the second period of his side's 2-0 win over Deportivo La Coruna at the weekend after a heavy challenge.

However, Ancelotti has revealed that the left-back is fit for the European clash in Germany.

"It's just a knock, but he has touched a nerve and it left the area dead," Ancelotti told AS. "He's fine now and he'll play against Schalke."

Real Madrid won their 10th European Cup last season.
