Real Madrid reportedly hit out at a UEFA "scandal" after they were re-drawn against Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Real Madrid have reportedly been left furious with the "scandal" of a Champions League re-draw after a UEFA technical error.

Carlo Ancelotti's side were scheduled to face Benfica in the last 16 after the initial draw but will now do battle with Paris Saint-Germain after the teams had to be paired again.

The error arose when Manchester United were drawn against Villarreal - which could not take place given that the two clubs were in the same group together - and the Red Devils were then not in the pot to potentially face Atletico Madrid.

According to Goal, the fiasco has been labelled a "scandal" by Real Madrid, with Florentino Perez believing that there was no need for a re-draw despite the technical error.

The report adds that the animosity between UEFA and Real Madrid could now grow, with the botched European Super League plans already leading to frosty relations.

Man United were ultimately drawn against Atletico for the last-16 stage after the Red Devils had initially been paired with PSG.
