Alvaro Arbeloa 'does not watch' Spain matches

Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa reveals that he no longer watches Spain in action following his omission from their 2014 World Cup squad.

Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa has revealed that he no longer watches Spain in action.

The experienced full-back has 56 caps for his country and was expected to travel to the 2014 World Cup after making 30 appearances for Real Madrid during the 2013-14 campaign.

The 33-year-old was left out of Vicente del Bosque's final selection, however, and he has admitted that he no longer has a desire to watch his national team compete following the omission.

"I don't watch Spain matches," Arbeloa told Cadena COPE. "I take the opportunity to unwind and be with my children and wife.

"I'll watch the Euros, but I only watched the first half against Chile in the [2014] World Cup. I did everything I had to do [for a call-up] and was hurt by not going to Brazil, but now I'm super-happy not to be a part of the national team."

Arbeloa was a key part of the Spain side that won Euro 2012.
