Ernesto Valdano: 'Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi will soon hit goal trail'

Former Real Madrid manager Jorge Valdano backs Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to soon open their goalscoring accounts for the new La Liga season.

Former Real Madrid manager Jorge Valdano does not think it will be long before Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi open their La Liga accounts for the new season.

Somewhat surprisingly, neither Ronaldo nor Messi have scored in the first two rounds of La Liga fixtures this term.

Valdano, however, has said that the pair, who scored 91 league goals between them last season, will "soon return to being extra-terrestrials".

"It's a cosmic accident in the first two rounds. It's a matter of time before they return to being extra-terrestrials," Valdano told beIN Sports.

Ronaldo's Real Madrid will face Espanyol in the league this weekend, while Barcelona will travel to Atletico Madrid.
