Cesc Fabregas: 'Iker Casillas will struggle if he leaves Real Madrid'

Cesc Fabregas believes that Iker Casillas will struggle with life at a new club if he leaves Real Madrid this summer.

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas believes that Iker Casillas will find it "difficult" to adapt to another club if he leaves Real Madrid this summer.

The Spanish goalkeeper has spent his entire career so far with the La Liga giants, but it has been rumoured that his time at the Bernabeu is coming to an end.

Casillas has received criticism from sections of the media and supporters during the season, but Fabregas is quick to back his former rival.

"I have defended Iker many times, and deservedly so because I feel really sorry for him," Fabregas told Cope. "If I have to, I will again without hesitation.

"He is a legend at Madrid, he has been there forever. A move would be a very difficult step for him, I was younger when I moved to England so it was different.

"Madrid and Barcelona are worldwide and the biggest clubs in the world in all senses. Taking a step into another league or another team is difficult."

Despite suggestions that Casillas could seek a transfer, there have also been reports that the shot-stopper intends to see out the remaining two years on his contract.
