Xavi "sad and angry" at Iker Casillas farewell

Xavi reveals that he is "sad and angry" at the way Real Madrid handled Iker Casillas's departure, insisting that he deserves more respect from the club.

Xavi has revealed that he is "sad and angry" at the treatment Iker Casillas received as he departed Real Madrid.

The Spanish goalkeeper recently completed a move to Porto, after spending over 15 years with Los Blancos.

However, Xavi revealed that the way Real have treated the 34-year-old's departure left "a bad taste" in his mouth, and insists that the goalkeeper deserves more respect from the club.

"It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I wrote a letter stating my opinion. He didn't deserve such a tepid send-off; he deserved more," the former Barcelona midfielder said, according to Goal.com.

"They held a tribute for him but he looked sad. It makes me feel sad and angry that his farewell was like that. Maybe last year the same would've happened to me.

"I left in the best way possible but Madrid didn't lift any trophies. Nevertheless, he deserved more."

Casillas made over 700 appearances for Real, winning five La Liga titles, two Copa del Reys and three Champions Leagues during his time at the club.
