Real Madrid are reportedly eyeing up a £40m transfer for Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies when he reaches the final year of his contract.
The player's existing deal with the Bavarians is scheduled to expire in 2025, and discussions regarding a potential extension appear to be placed on hold for the moment.
Since making the move from his hometown Vancouver Whitecaps in 2019, Davies has been a key member of the Bundesliga team and has featured in every match this season.
Bild reports that Real Madrid have expressed interest in securing the Canadian international's services and are prepared to invest around £40m to do so, although they would prefer to negotiate a lower fee.
The report adds that Nick Huoseh, Davies's agent, addressed the rumours and their implications for his client, stating: "Real is a big club, I'm a big fan. Real is a big name.
"When you hear rumours about your protege, it makes you proud. We still have two years of contract with Bayern. We will wait and see how everything develops in the coming weeks."
Although contract extension talks with Davies have not commenced, Bayern are understood to be committed to keeping him in Munich.
In June, Davies made a striking assertion, stating that the president of Barcelona rejected a potential transfer for him on the grounds of his Canadian nationality.
