Real Madrid reportedly walked away from a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe despite being willing to pay £197m for the 22-year-old.

Real Madrid were allegedly prepared to fork out a staggering £197m to seal a deal for Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe on deadline day.

The former Monaco man was understood to be Los Blancos' leading target throughout the summer window, and the Spanish side accelerated their attempts to sign him during the final hours of the window.

In spite of previous optimism that a deal would be struck, PSG supposedly stalled over a mammoth offer from Real for Mbappe, and as a result the forward stayed put at the Parc des Princes.

According to Sky Sports News, Real were happy to pay £197m to secure the striker's signature this summer, but the La Liga giants walked away after not receiving a response from PSG.

The report adds that Mbappe has no intention of staying at PSG beyond 2022, and as a result Real Madrid will negotiate a pre-contract agreement with the France international in January.

Mbappe already boasts three goals and two assists from four Ligue 1 games this season.
