Villarreal are reportedly keen to secure the services of Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev for a second time.
The Russia international spent the 2014-15 campaign on loan with the Yellow Submarine, for whom he scored seven goals from 40 outings in all competitions.
Cheryshev has since failed to nail down a regular first-team place back at the Bernabeu, which has resulted in suggestions that he will move on this summer.
According to Marca, Villarreal owner Fernando Roig is now plotting a permanent move for the 25-year-old.
The report adds that Roig is hopeful that his side's presence in next season's Champions League will help to convince Cheryshev to make the switch.
Cheryshev is currently sidelined with a knee injury, which will prevent him from playing at Euro 2016.
