Newcastle manager Steve McClaren has stated that he does not want keeper Rob Elliot to travel on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.
Martin O'Neill's side make the journey to Bosnia for the first leg of their Euro 2016 playoff next Friday, before playing the home leg against Bosnia-Herzegovina the following Monday.
The Ireland boss, who has had first-choice keeper Shay Given ruled out through injury, is expected to name his final squad for the two clashes on November 9.
Asked if Elliot would be joining up with the Ireland squad, McClaren told reporters: "I hope not and I do not think so."
Following Newcastle's 1-0 victory away to Bournemouth on Saturday, Elliot said: "I'm going to go and see the specialist and hopefully get some good news off him."
The keeper also revealed that the club's doctor did not think he would be fit enough to line out against Eddie Howe's team.
