Report: Roma want Ron Vlaar

A report claims that Roma want to sign Aston Villa centre-back Ron Vlaar.

Serie A runners-up Roma are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa and Netherlands centre-back Ron Vlaar this summer.

The 29-year-old, who has just one year remaining on his current deal, enjoyed an impressive World Cup for his country under the leadership of Louis van Gaal.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma are exploring the possibility of moving for the defender this month as they prepare to lose Mehdi Benatia, who has been linked with Manchester City.

Villa are believed to be preparing a new long-term deal for Vlaar.
