Reading move past Rotherham United

Reading beat Rotherham United 3-0 after Simox Cox adds a brace to Jamie Mackie opener at the Madejski Stadium.

Reading moved up to 13th in the Championship after a 3-0 win against Rotherham United at the Madejski Stadium this evening.

Simon Cox scored twice in the second half after Jamie Mackie had given his side the lead in the first period.

The home side had Anton Ferdinand to thank when the defender hacked cleared after Adam Federici had dropped the ball after clattering a teammate when he collected a cross early on.

The Royals had the lead shortly before the half-hour mark through Mackie after he got on the end of a cross from Stephen Kelly.

Cox almost extended the lead for the home side shortly after when he met Oliver Norwood's cross, but his effort was well saved by Millers keeper Adam Collin.

Cox did make it 2-0 after the restart when he turned home his sixth of the season after good work from Mackie 10 minutes into the second half.

The striker then added his second of the evening to make the result safe on 64 minutes when he fired home a volley after good work from Norwood.
