Rotherham United sack manager Neil Redfearn

Neil Redfearn loses his job as manager of Championship outfit Rotherham United following a run of just three wins in 12 outings.

Championship side Rotherham United have parted company with manager Neil Redfearn.

The 50-year-old only arrived at the New York Stadium last October on a deal until the summer of 2018.

However, a run of just three wins from 12 Championship outings has seen the Millers drop into the relegation zone, which has forced the board to act.

"It is with a heavy heart that we've parted company with Neil today. As we all know football is a results-driven business and with 16 games to go our aim has to be to retain our Championship status," read a statement from chairman Tony Stewart.

"Everyone at the club wishes Neil well with his future career and thank him for his efforts and endeavour. Our focus now is 100% behind appointing a first-team manager as soon as possible."

Rotherham are next in action on Saturday when they play host to Birmingham City.
