Luciano Becchio rejoins Rotherham United until end of season

Rotherham United announce that they have re-signed striker Luciano Becchio until the end of the season.

Rotherham United have announced that they have re-signed striker Luciano Becchio until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old has been training with the Millers in recent weeks following a spell in his native Argentina with Belgrano, and manager Neil Redfearn has seen enough to make a move for a player he also worked with at Leeds United.

Becchio spent a short spell on loan at Rotherham from Norwich City last season, scoring two goals in five appearances before seeing his time at the club prematurely ended through injury.

"I'm delighted to come back here and I hope to help the team to move up the table. I started training with the team two weeks ago and I feel confident. I know the group and I know the manager so I can't wait to play the first game now," he told the club's official website.

Redfearn added: "He has got himself 120% fit now and he looks the part. Luciano is a vastly experienced frontman and a proven goalscorer.

"He is going to be a help to the other strikers at the club and from our point of view it is a great signing to get in. He's got over his injury, he looks a lot fitter and he has looked after himself. It is a case now of getting him in a good place. We have got ourselves a real quality striker."

Becchio could make his second debut for the Millers when they face Cardiff City on Saturday.
