Ciro Ferrara says that Sampdoria were wasteful in front of goal against Udinese.

Sampdoria coach Ciro Ferrara has said that poor finishing cost his team dearly in tonight's 2-0 defeat to Udinese.

Danilo Larangeira and Antonio Di Natale scored the goals that saw the visitors rise to eighth in Serie A, while Samp hover in 13th.

The 45-year-old former Juventus man, who only took the reins in the summer, admitted that Samp lacked potency in attack and deserved to lose.

"We could have been there all day and we still wouldn't have scored," Ferrara told Sky Sport Italia. "During the first half we had our hand in the game, but two naive mistakes changed the match.

"I thought changing from a back three to a back four would help us condense the space in the penalty area, but we were not accurate enough.

"Despite that though, we still created opportunities – however, we were often inaccurate and sometimes a bit coy."

Sampdoria travel to Catania on Sunday.
