Neil McCann: Scotland were "toothless" in Georgia defeat

Neil McCann believes that Scotland put in a "toothless" display in their Euro 2016 qualifying defeat to Georgia.

Neil McCann has declared that Scotland were "toothless" in the final third in their Euro 2016 qualifying defeat to Georgia.

Valeri Kazaishvili scored the only goal of the game to fire Georgia to victory as Gordon Strachan's men struggled in front of goal, with Steven Fletcher among those missing good opportunities.

The loss leaves Scotland in fourth place in Group D, three points behind second-placed Poland, with three games remaining in the qualifying campaign.

McCann told Sky Sports News: "There was a lack of thrust and drive from the front four players and I think there was a lack of crispness throughout the team in terms of their passing. That's when you need passes to be crisp, precise and for there to be lots of movement and lots of options. We didn't see it enough tonight.

"I don't know if it's complacency. I don't know the reason they were flat and I'm sure Gordon Strachan will be having a little bit of an inquest. Something has gone wrong. That is possibly the first time I've seen a Scotland team under Gordon look a little bit toothless.

"Most of our best chances came from set pieces and under Gordon – and in particular the four forward players allied to the full-backs getting forward – have created lots of chances. We've scored goals but something has gone wrong. We need to get it quickly back and address it on Monday night against Germany."

Scotland face Germany in their next qualifying match on Monday.
