Sheffield United goalkeeper George Long has admitted that he is delighted with the appointment of David Weir as the club's new manager.
Weir joined the club earlier this week as the successor to Danny Wilson, who was sacked at Brammall Lane during the last campaign.
Long has admitted that he asked his England teammates Ross Barkley and John Stones about Weir, who had been working at Everton as a coach, as they prepare for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
He told the Sheffield Star: "As soon as I discovered he'd got the job the first thing I did was ask all of the lads from Goodison Park about him.
"They all said exactly the same thing. That David Weir is a really nice guy and a brilliant coach.
"None of them had a bad word to say. Exactly the opposite in fact. They couldn't praise him highly enough."
The 19-year-old made 44 appearances in all competitions for the Blades last season.
