Former Everton defender David Weir is reportedly edging closer to the managerial post at Sheffield United.
The Scotsman, who works as the reserve team coach at Goodison Park, was believed to have been originally considered for the role at Everton before Roberto Martinez was appointed from Wigan Athletic.
Following positive talks with Blades chairman Kevin McCabe last week, Weir is a strong contender for the vacancy at Bramall Lane, according to the Liverpool Daily Post.
Chris Morgan was placed in interim charge of the club following Danny Wilson's departure in April.
