Southampton injury, suspension list ahead of their first game back

Sports Mole rounds up Southampton's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their first match back after lockdown, set to be a meeting with Norwich City.

Southampton will return to Premier League action later this month having recorded four defeats from their last five matches.

That run of form before the Coronavirus pandemic is responsible for turning the Saints from contenders to qualify for the Europa League to a team still needing results to avoid relegation to the Championship.

While they still hold a seven-point advantage over the bottom three, Ralph Hasenhuttl will be aware that another setback against Norwich City will do little to ease the nerves at St Mary's.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Southampton's injury and suspension news ahead of their next contest, provisionally set for June 19.

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Muscular
Possible return date: June 19 (vs. Norwich)

Nathan Redmond was a notable absentee before the suspension of the Premier League after he was sidelined with a muscular problem. However, with the playmaker having been due to return in April, he is on course to feature in the starting lineup in the meeting with his former club.

Status: Suspended
How many games?: Three

Having been handed a straight red card during the first half of Southampton's most recent fixture with Newcastle United, Djenepo will now miss the next three games. That leaves the winger having to wait until early July to return to the squad.
