Tottenham Hotspur team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Manchester City

Sports Mole rounds up Tottenham Hotspur's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League showdown with Manchester City.

High-flying Tottenham Hotspur return to Premier League action this weekend by welcoming Manchester City to North London on Saturday afternoon.

Jose Mourinho's side have picked up 13 of the last 15 points available to them in the top flight, a run of form which has seen them climb up to second in the table after eight games.

Spurs' title credentials are sure to face a stern test in the upcoming weeks with a difficult run of fixtures, though, starting with the visit of a Manchester City side that had begun to find their form prior to the international break.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Tottenham's injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Matt Doherty

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Matt Doherty tested positive for COVID-19 while on international duty with Republic of Ireland and must now undergo a period of self-isolation which rules him out of this game. Doherty also came into contact with clubmate Gareth Bale before his positive test, although the Welsh winger has not yet tested positive himself.

Harry Winks

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: November 21 (vs. Man City)

Mourinho revealed that Harry Winks returned from international duty with a "little problem" but failed to go into any more detail, making the midfielder a doubt for this one.

Erik Lamela

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: November 29 (vs. Chelsea)

Erik Lamela missed the last two matches before the international break with a foot injury, but he is now out of his protective boot and has been using the international break to edge closer to a return, although this match will come too soon.

Steven Bergwijn

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Fitness
Possible return date: November 21 (vs. Man City)

Steven Bergwijn was swiftly sent back to Tottenham after joining up with Netherlands during the international break, with his country deeming him not fit enough to feature. The winger did feature in the week leading up to the break, though, and has recovered to be available this weekend too.

Japhet Tanganga

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: November 21 (vs. Man City)

Japhet Tanganga is now thought to be in the final stages of his recovery from what Mourinho described as "an important injury", but he remains a major doubt for this match.

TOTTENHAM'S SUSPENSION LIST

Spurs have no players suspended for this Premier League clash.
