Andre Villas-Boas: 'Gareth Bale is no diver'

Andre Villas-Boas says that Gareth Bale is growing frustrated at his reputation of being a diver.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas is adamant that winger Gareth Bale is not a diver.

The Welshman was booked for diving at the weekend during his side's 3-0 win at Fulham.

The former Southampton man has gained a reputation for going down too easily, and the Portuguese boss says that it is annoying the player.

"Yes, he is frustrated about it," said Villas-Boas. "It is difficult for him, particularly in the last two games.

"If he has a reputation I think it's a little bit unfair, the last two have been unfair.

"I think he uses it as a precaution from different types of challenges. I'm not saying all of the players that challenge Gareth are malicious but the action is so quick that it might look like it's not a foul while it is."

Spurs travel to Everton on Sunday.
