The Wales international suffered the injury during the victory over Fulham on Saturday afternoon.
However, Andre Villas-Boas is confident that the problem is not as bad as first feared and expects the winger to return within a fortnight.
Bale has been in good form for Spurs this season, scoring six goals in 14 league games for the club.
