Kevin Kilbane: 'Michael Dawson better than Younes Kaboul, Federico Fazio'

Kevin Kilbane claims that Tottenham Hotspur made a mistake by allowing Michael Dawson to join Hull City.

Kevin Kilbane has expressed his belief that Tottenham Hotspur made a mistake by selling Michael Dawson to Hull City.

The centre-back faced his former club on Sunday when Spurs ran out 2-1 winners over the Tigers at the KC Stadium.

Kilbane says that Spurs have failed to find an adequate replacement for Dawson as their captain.

"Dawson was the club captain and was replaced by Kaboul, who I don't think is in his class as a leader able to dictate games," Kilbane told BBC Sport.

"He has great awareness and also an ability on the ball. He can pass, he can play. I think one or two Tottenham fans might be asking the question 'why on Earth has he been replaced by Fazio?'

"For me, Michael Dawson is a better centre-half than Fazio and Kaboul. I think you could get another two or three years out of Dawson."

Dawson moved to Hull in August on a three-year deal.
