Mauricio Pochettino: 'Finding right striker is like looking for true love'

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino claims that finding the right striker in football can be just as arduous as the pursuit of a person's soul mate.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has likened his ongoing pursuit of the 'perfect' striker to that of finding a soul mate in life.

Having sold Roberto Soldado and banished Emmanuel Adebayor, Harry Kane is Spurs' only established centre-forward as the Lilywhites continue to chase their first Premier League win of the 2015-16 campaign following a mixed start.

West Bromwich Albion's Saido Berahino and Bayer Leverkusen ace Son Heung-min have both been linked with the club, and Pochettino claims that he is determined to find 'the one' as he bids to transform their early-season woes.

"It is never easy, there are always a lot of players around the world that you can sign," he told a press conference.

"But it's like when you are in love with a lady – there are a lot of women around the world but you want only one. Sometimes, it is impossible. It's about love. And in football, it is the same.

"For us, it is important to add the right profile, someone who can play under our style and our philosophy."

Pochettino's men, who have won two points from a possible nine, welcome Everton to White Hart Lane on Saturday.
