Jan Vertonghen rejects rumours of Tottenham Hotspur rift

Jan Vertonghen rejects reports that there is a rift between the players and manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has rejected suggestions that there are issues between the players and manager Andre Villas-Boas.

The North London outfit have come under criticism following their 6-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.

However, Vertonghen has insisted that while Villas-Boas's tactical decisions may not always work, there is no disharmony within the camp.

"If there's a problem between the players and the manager? Absolutely not," Goal.com quotes Vertonghen as saying.

"There are also no troubles between [individual] players. This [defeat] was painful. Also the way we lost. I've the feeling I want to play this game again. We even could have conceded more goals.

"The manager tries to make the right choices. Sometimes the choices turn out to be good, sometimes not."

Spurs are currently ninth in the Premier League table after 12 games.
