Ashley Williams rates Gareth Bale as the best he's played with, but hopes the winger is left out when Swansea play Tottenham this afternoon.

Swansea City defender Ashley Williams is hoping that injury doubt Gareth Bale does not play when his side face Tottenham Hotspur today.

The Wales captain says that Bale is the best he has ever played alongside and that his team will have a better chance if the winger does not return from a hamstring injury.

"On a personal level, Gareth's a mate and I don't like to see him injured," Williams told WalesOnline. "But for the team, I'd rather he didn't play because he is just world-class.

"He's a good lad too, and on the field he's probably the best I've ever played with. He is unstoppable on his day.

"We did well at Tottenham last year for 60 minutes and were level but then Gareth turned it on. He can score goals and create chances when he wants."

Williams missed Swansea's midweek cup game and says he is looking forward to getting back into the action today.

The Swans face Spurs at White Hart Lane this afternoon.
