Tottenham Hotspur transfer roundup: Gabriel Jesus update, Lucas hints at exit

Sports Mole rounds up the latest Tottenham transfer news, as Lucas Moura hints at an exit and Spurs consider other attacking options rather than Gabriel Jesus.

Tottenham Hotspur have strengthened and will continue to strengthen their squad this summer, with Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma representing a trio of new arrivals.

Antonio Conte is still believed to want another centre-back and attacker before the 2022-23 season kicks off, and Fabio Paratici is wasting no time in the current window.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest Tottenham transfer news, including updates on Gabriel Jesus, Lucas Moura and Djed Spence.

Tottenham 'not interested in Gabriel Jesus'

With Harry Kane set to stay and act as Spurs' leading centre-forward next season, finding a backup striker willing to accept being second fiddle to the England captain may prove difficult.

Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus has been tipped to fill that position, as the Brazil international only has 12 months left to run on his contract with the Premier League champions.

However, The Athletic's Charlie Eccleshare reports that Tottenham have no interest in signing Jesus, who wants to be one of the first names on the teamsheet at his next club.

Arsenal are now widely expected to wrap up a deal for the 25-year-old, and Spurs' North London rivals are said to have already reached a verbal agreement over a deal.

Spurs could instead turn their attention to Everton's Richarlison, while Leeds United's Raphinha also remains on the Lilywhites' radar.

Lucas Moura open to Tottenham exit

Lucas Moura has struggled to assert his authority on the field at Tottenham on a consistent basis, and his opportunities for starts in 2022-23 will seemingly be limited.

Dejan Kulusevski's stellar start to life in North London restricted Moura to the substitutes' bench more often than not in the second half of last season, and the 29-year-old has hinted that he will seek a move elsewhere when his contract runs out next summer.

"The idea is to fulfil the contract. It has one more year, with the option of one more, on the part of the club," Lucas told journalist Andre Hernan. "So at the end of this season now, if the club wants to extend another year, they have that option.

"But my idea is this. Finalising the contract, playing in the Champions League, we haven't played the Champions League for two years, and now it could be, perhaps, my last Champions League there at Tottenham. So then the idea is to stay there, fulfil the contract, then be free, then decide where I'm going."

Lucas has spent the last four-and-a-half years at Tottenham since arriving from PSG and has amassed 38 goals and 27 assists from 201 appearances in that time.

Tottenham 'set for further talks over Djed Spence deal'

Djed Spence was instrumental in helping Nottingham Forest earn promotion to the Premier League last term, and the 21-year-old will expect to be plying his trade in the top flight next term.

Spence has now returned to Middlesbrough, but some of the Premier League's top clubs are thought to be after the right-back, and Tottenham are currently at the head of the queue.

According to Sky Sports News, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is spearheading further talks over a move for the England Under-21 international, who has also been linked with Arsenal.

Middlesbrough are allegedly after at least £15m to part ways with Spence, who is not due to become a free agent until the summer of 2024.

Spence scored three goals and set up five more in 46 appearances for Forest in all tournaments last season and also helped Steve Cooper's side reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
