Harry Redknapp says that he would like to keep Emmanuel Adebayor at Tottenham Hotspur but cites wages as a stumbling block.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has insisted that he would like to keep Emmanuel Adebayor at the club but is unsure whether the North London outfit can afford him.

The striker, who moved to White Hart Lane on a loan deal from Manchester City, has been prolific for Spurs - scoring 17 goals for Redknapp's side this season.

"He was only a loan and his loan is up," said Redknapp. "It is up to the chairman [Daniel Levy] if we could loan him again. I would like to keep him, obviously. He has done great for us.

"But I don't know. We don't pay them wages - the only way we could do a deal was if the chairman did a clever deal like he did this year for him."

Spurs finished fourth in the table on the final day of the Premier League campaign following a 2-0 win over Fulham. However, the club's Champions League spot could be snatched away from them if Chelsea defeat Bayern Munich in the final of the European competition on Saturday.
