Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly planning to cash in on goalkeeper Hugo Lloris during the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to part ways with goalkeeper Hugo Lloris this summer.

Since moving to the North Londoners in 2012, Lloris has become the club captain and gone on to make 443 appearances in all competitions.

Back in January 2022, Spurs officials moved to extend the contract of the World Cup winner until 2024, seemingly cementing his status as number one for another two years.

However, the 36-year-old was making an increasing number of errors before he sustained a knee injury at the beginning of February, leading to criticism over his performances.

The fitness setback effectively took him out of the firing line, while it is expected that Lloris will return between the sticks at some point during April.

Nevertheless, according to Football Insider, Spurs are open to selling the retired France international at the end of the season.

Given his age and having just a year left on his contract, the Premier League side could not expect to receive a significant fee for the stopper.

That said, his departure would free up space on the wage bill and force Spurs to make an active attempt to secure a younger alternative.

As well as Lloris being in the latter stages of his career, his deputy Fraser Forster recently turned 35 years of age and is not regarded as a long-term alternative.

The younger crop - Alfie Whiteman and Brandon Austin - are expected to be provided with loan moves elsewhere to stake a future claim to earn game time with Spurs.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that Spurs may look at trying to secure a deal for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest.

Long-term target Jordan Pickford has recently extended his stay at Everton, although the England number one's future is dependent on the Toffees remaining in the Premier League.

The Merseyside outfit are also facing the possibility of punishment for financial irregularities, as claimed by the Premier League on Friday.
